With International Women’s Day taking place earlier this month, there’s never been a better time to stand united with women from around the globe. So on Saturday 14th April, Landing Forty Two is proud to be supporting CARE International UK for their inaugural event, Stairs And The City.
The women-only tower-running event challenges participants to climb 48 floors (1,258 steps) in our iconic property, The Leadenhall Building. With a friendly, encouraging atmosphere, the climb allows women to test their own strength and determination whilst supporting an incredible charity.
Founded in 1945, CARE International works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty and achieve social justice. They put women and girls in the centre of their work with the view that poverty cannot be eradicated until all people have equal rights and opportunities.
It’s almost twenty years since we first saw Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte appear on our screens with their message of female empowerment. Today conversations surrounding gender equality have evolved. Sex and the City may have long finished but Stairs and the City is here to strengthen women’s options and independence. Landing Forty Two is pleased to be working with CARE International to help women and girls living in poverty to fulfil their full potential.
By taking part and raising a minimum of £150 they will help CARE continue to empower women across the world to make a real difference. Additionally, as part of CARE’s Help Her Live, Learn and Earn appeal, the UK government will double their fundraising until April 22nd, so all their hard work will help even MORE women and girls!
What’s more post-climb, participants and their guests can celebrate their achievement with a glass of bubbly in hand here at Landing Forty Two. Taking in our spectacular panoramic view of London’s iconic skyline with fellow climbers, the sky will truly be the limit for women’s equality.
