Ben Paris is Head of Sales at Moving Venue, our in-house catering parnter. Get to know him in today’s instaview:
I studied History and Politics at University in Portsmouth so building a career in hospitality was a little left of field. However, food is one of my greatest passions in life so it’s unsurprising that event catering is where I’ve ended up. There’s nothing more I enjoy more than finding a new restaurant in London, my favourite at the moment is ‘Native’ in Covent Garden – their Instagram is amazing and well worth a visit!
I was recently in Paris and stumbled across a fantastic restaurant called ‘Les Chousettes’, we went during Paris fashion week and it was full of ‘fashion types’ I was hoping to bump into Kate Moss but alas… the food however, was brilliant. Take a look.
History is still a huge passion of mine, I completely geek out when running events in some of the most historic and well known London venues. Here is a very hot day in Kensington Palace last summer before a lovely intimate dinner for 40 guests.
As cliché as it sounds, I also really enjoy to travel. In 2016, I was lucky enough and managed to travel to Singapore, Thailand, Germany, Norway and Spain. Norway especially was absolutely stunning, Scandinavian food is some of my favourite and the fjords are beautiful. I captured my other half, Oli, mid-mountain walk here- looking very windswept!
I’m really close to my family, particularly my little brother Henry who’s 10 years old. For his birthday last year Oli and I took him sushi making, it was an absolutely ball, he really enjoyed it. I may have a budding chef on my hands!
One of my favourite things about working within the London event’s industry is the friends that you make along the way. It’s such a social industry and even though we work hard, we have a lot of fun along the way. Here’s a brilliant example, this is a great friend of mine, Milan Thakrar- who works for Historic Royal Palaces- pretending to fall into the lake in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace… obviously.
