In an age of Brexit, GDPR and cyber-security threats, it’s clear that every industry must consider challenges ahead. Wanting to inspire insurance professionals to discuss the future of their sector, Grant Thornton hosted an exclusive conference to help delegates gain greater knowledge of the opportunities of tomorrow.
What better way to present economic innovation than by immersing guests in a panoramic view of London’s ever-changing skyline? As delegates arrived, a breakfast buffet created by in-house catering partner Moving Venue began an enthralling event of presentations and networking. Fuelled by treats including mini bacon rolls, fruit skewers and pastries, guests witnessed sunrise scenes over the City’s most iconic landmarks; an energising start to discussions.
Landing Forty Two’s production team were on hand to ensure the smooth running of the morning’s first presentation. With the stage set with a bespoke Grant Thornton branded wrap, guests listened to key regulatory updates in a speech from Michael Sicsic, head of retail general insurance and protection at the FCA and Grant Thornton advisor Jon Sperrin. With a dedicated AV technician at the venue, the presentation benefited from a high-tech 98” plasma screen, surround-sound and a further two 50” plasmas, ensuring everyone benefitted from key-learnings.
With attendees comfortably seated, a further two presentations followed with all presenters miked up and benefitting from preview monitors in front of the stage and presentation clickers.
A break of light refreshments including home-made cookies and hot beverages enabled delegates to mingle and consider topical industry issues. With the adaptable stage capable of accommodating a wide-ranging number of speakers, hot topic presentations followed on GDPR, cyber-security and a Brexit panel of 6 presenters.
As guests gained critical industry knowledge, the inspiring skyline backdrop set a tone of possibility and opportunity. With presentations over, guests headed to a specially-installed LED bar, ready to get stuck into delicious dishes and discussion. The menu included everything from fillet of beef with spiced slaw, blackened chicken with truffled ponzu alongside veggie options such as chickpea and lentil curry. Leaving on a high, guests departed filled with tasty food, thought-provoking strategies, actions and ideas.
