Landing Forty Two is part of Venue Lab, which aims to challenge the usual approach to sourcing and managing venues. Recently our team headed to another Venue Lab space, Printworks London, for its spectacular Spring Showcase.
On arrival, we were served welcome cocktails in The Vanway, before we began our exploration of one of the capital’s most exciting new event spaces. We were first met by a live musical duo and then encountered a breathtaking solo contemporary dance performance in the HSBC warehouse.
The Reel Storage space was set in a typical conference set-up to showcase how easily the warehouse can be transformed. The journey concluded in the monolithic Press Halls, where we were greeted by the DJ, percussion and sax group, Beats Boutique, who were positioned high up within one of the original printing presses.
The night’s entertainment included a dance performance and spectacular lighting display that showcased the venue’s incredible capabilities for Christmas entertaining, including receptions and seated dinners.
Throughout the show, we were treated to an impressive lighting display, consisting of over 50 moving lights across eight fully automated lighting trusses created several different looks and movements throughout the show. In addition, there are over 70 lasers spread across the full length of the dance floor, creating a roof of lasers above the audience. To further exemplify the space, over 50 LED wash lights highlight the original architectural features.
The venue’s caterer, Smart Hospitality, created a street food style atmosphere with live cooking stations, serving pad Thai and shredded duck buns, as well bowl food dishes such as red Thai chicken curry, teriyaki fillet of beef and cauliflower mac ‘n’ cheese, followed by desserts which included vanilla cream, summer berries, bubble gum meringues and strawberry pipettes.
Since its launch, Printworks London has hosted a range of events including Mulberry’s SS17 fashion show, the world’s first immersive drive-through car launch for Toyota, an interactive dining experience for Britvic and most recently, the live world-premiere of the new Gorillaz album.
